Community guidelines
WITHSTAND’s Community is a place where people who are walking through behavioural urges share words with each other. You can use it to encourage someone, or to leave your own day here. To keep this place safe, we ask the following.
What is welcome
- Honest words. Days that went well, days that did not, and the nights an urge came.
- Concrete experience. What helped, what was hard.
- Quiet encouragement. A single Support, or a short comment.
This is not a “positive posts only” place. Writing something low does not put your place here at risk.
What cannot be posted
- Harassment or attacks — blaming, belittling or threatening a specific person.
- Personal information — real names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, employers, schools, social media accounts, or anything else that identifies you or someone else.
- Sexual content.
- Solicitation or promotion — products, services, organisations, or outside groups. External links cannot be posted.
- Encouraging addictive behaviour — inviting someone to gamble, drink, game or act on any other behaviour, sharing methods or places, or reassuring that “a little is fine”. Sharing that you thought this yourself is welcome.
- Dangerous content — encouraging or describing self-harm or harm to others. If you feel in danger right now, open Home from the tab bar and tap “Immediate help” to reach a person at any time.
- Impersonation — presenting yourself as another person or organisation.
- Anything else outside the purpose of this place.
What stays private
Only what you write here — your posts and comments, the display name and @ID you chose, and the Progress you chose to make public — appears in the Community. Your Journal, Plan, Personal Circle, urge records, anything that happened in an anonymous five-minute session, your notification times and your location are never published. The person who was with you in an anonymous session is never connected to your Community profile.
Tools to protect yourself
- Report — from the “•••” on any post, comment or profile. You choose a reason; you never have to write anything. The person is not told.
- Mute — that person’s posts stop appearing in your feed. The person is not told.
- Block — you no longer see each other, and neither of you can follow or support the other. You will also never be paired with that person in an anonymous session. The person is not told.
Review
Posts and comments may be checked automatically before and after they appear, and by a person when needed. A post judged to be against these guidelines may be hidden or removed. If this happens repeatedly, posting in the Community may be turned off for that account. Even then, reaching out to a peer from Home, being there for a peer, Journal and Plan all keep working as before.
Changes
These guidelines will be revised when needed. When they change in a meaningful way, you will be asked to agree again the next time you open the Community.
