WITHSTAND · Five minutes of peer support

When the urge hits, you do not have to face it alone.

When an urge gets strong, ask another adult for five structured minutes. A shared timer and fixed signals make room for one next step. Between difficult moments, find community and prepare your own tools.

  • Real peers, never simulated
  • No chat, voice, or video in sessions
  • No DMs

01The space before the next action

Support, in your own time

For the moment. And the days between.

The moment

There is a windowbetween the urge and the action.

An urge can make the next action feel automatic. WITHSTAND creates a pause without asking you to explain your whole story first. Send a request, then choose what could help next. If a peer accepts, the app opens a five-minute space focused on one next step.

Why five minutes

Five minutes.A clear boundary for a hard moment.

Five minutes gives the experience a clear beginning and end. It is short enough to ask for in a difficult moment, but long enough for another person's presence to interrupt the feeling that you have to handle the next action alone.

01

Small enough to ask now

You are not asking a stranger to solve your life. You are asking one adult for a defined five-minute commitment, with no story, profile, or ongoing relationship required.

02

Structured enough to stay focused

A shared timer, preset signals, and one chosen safe action keep the session on the immediate moment. There is no open chat to perform in, moderate, or carry afterwards.

03

Your next action stays yours

A peer can be present, but they do not direct your life. You choose the action, you can end the session, and you decide what happens when the five minutes are over.

How it works

Four small steps.Five real minutes.

  1. 1.0

    Ask a peer

Tap Ask a peer when the moment is hard to hold alone. You do not have to write an explanation or publish what is happening.

  2. 2.0

    Stay with the wait

WITHSTAND looks for an adult who is standing by. A Live Activity can keep the wait visible, while breathing haptics mean you can put the screen down.

  3. 3.0

    Share five minutes

A session opens only after someone accepts. Use fixed signals, a shared timer, and the safe action you chose—without opening a chat.

  4. 4.0

    Keep the next step

When the moment closes, write a private record, return to your Plan, or look back at your walk. Your Journal, Plan, and walk stay open on Free.

Human presence

Support can movein both directions.

WITHSTAND does not divide people into helpers and people who need help. You can ask on one day and offer five minutes on another—without a public audience, private messages, public scores, or pressure to stay available.

01

Ask for company.

Send a five-minute request when the moment is hard to hold alone. You share only what the session needs—not your real name, history, contact details, or a public post.

02

Offer five minutes.

When you have capacity, be present for another member through fixed signals. You can decline, leave the Watch, or rest without a penalty.

Honest availability

No pretend presence.A clear next step.

A search is only a search until another adult accepts. WITHSTAND keeps every state plain, because a difficult moment is the wrong time for invented people, vague waiting, or false reassurance.

  1. 01

    While the app searches

You see that the app is looking. There are no fake names, simulated activity, fabricated counts, or AI presented as a human peer.

  2. 02

    After a peer accepts

Only then does WITHSTAND say someone is here and open the shared five-minute session.

  3. 03

    If nobody accepts

The app says no one is available yet, then offers a 60-second breath, your Plan, closing access, another attempt, and immediate help.

  4. 04

    The hour we gather

Every night from 9 to 10 PM Japan time, we agree to be here together. Ask at any hour you need to — the door never closes, and this is not a schedule you have to keep. It is an invitation to gather, not a guarantee that a peer will be available.

02 / Community · Free

A place to return to, between difficult moments.

Share a small step, read someone else's experience, or leave a comment. Choose a pseudonymous profile and follow members whose posts you want to see again. Joining is optional; asking for peer support does not require a community profile.

Posts, comments, and your community profile are shared with the community. Your Plan and Journal stay private. Reporting, blocking, and moderation are available. There are no direct messages.

03 / Prepare · Plus

Turn a useful thought into a tool you can use.

The recovery program guides you through a short lesson, a reflection, and a response in your own words. Start by noticing the thought that makes an urge easier to act on—and prepare a different response for next time.

  1. Notice the thought

Work through a focused theme at your own pace.

  2. Make it yours

Save a short personal response in My Toolkit.

  3. Return when it matters

Recall a tool during Relay and record whether it helped.

Plus opens program lessons and Comet's five-minute Sort Out. Tools you have already created remain available to use and edit after Plus ends. These are reflection tools, not medical treatment.

Your everyday tools

The moment matters. So do the hours around it.

Keep your own record, prepare for a difficult hour, and bring trusted people closer. The screenshots below illustrate the Plan, walk, and personal backdrop.

Beyond the streak

Each thing you want to leave behind keeps its own walk.

WITHSTAND separates your walks by Focus, including each start date. A setback in one walk does not break another. Your Journal, Plan, and walk stay private and free; Plus adds deeper patterns and preparation without changing who may ask for support.

02Free

The wait can leave the app

A Home Screen widget, a Live Activity while you wait, and a reminder before the gathering hour help WITHSTAND stay close without asking you to stare at it.

03Plus

Patterns you can actually use

See urge strength before and after, the hours when records cluster, and one Sunday page that looks back over the week.

04Plus

Prepare before the hour arrives

Set a prepared hour and receive a quiet line shortly beforehand that points back to the Plan you already chose.

05Plus

Bring trusted people closer

Invite up to five people to a Personal Circle. A one-time invitation can temporarily apply Plus to both people, and invited members can answer without buying Plus.

06Plus

Make the private space yours

Use your own photo as the backdrop. It changes only what you see; the peer-facing session stays small and anonymous.

Built for privacy

Small by design.Private by default.

The other person does not need your identity or your whole story to be present. WITHSTAND narrows what can exist in a session, instead of asking you to manage exposure after the fact. Less information crosses the boundary, so there is less to explain, perform, or regret sharing later.

01

Only the session surface

A peer sees your abstract light, fixed signals, chosen shared action, and connection state—not your anonymous name, email, location, exact age, Focus, Plan, or history.

02

No open channel

Anonymous sessions have no free-text chat, voice, video, image, or link exchange. A Personal Circle shares one set-once display name inside an invited, mutual relationship; it creates no public profile or direct-message channel. Community, the center tab, is where members who opt in share short posts and comments under a pseudonym—moderated, with no direct messages.

03

Controls stay close

End, block, report, and immediate help remain reachable during the experience. Account deletion is available inside the app without contacting support first.

Memberships

Free support first.More depth when you choose Plus.

These memberships are included in the iOS app and purchased only through the App Store. Subscriptions are not sold on this website.

Common questions

Questions deserveplain answers.

The limits are part of the product, not fine print added later. Here is what to expect before you reach out or offer your time.

What happens during the five minutes?

You and one peer exchange preset signals, follow the safe action you selected, and see the same session timer. You can end when you are ready.

Is this therapy or professional advice?

No. Peers are other adult members, not staff or professionals. WITHSTAND is structured peer presence—not medical care, therapy, counseling, addiction treatment, or an emergency response service.

Will someone always be available?

No. Another member has to choose to accept, and availability can be limited. If nobody accepts before the timeout, the app says so plainly and offers other next steps.

What can the other person see about me?

Only the small session surface: an abstract light, fixed signals, the shared safe action, and connection state. They cannot see your anonymous name, email, location, exact age, Focus, Plan, check-ins, or history.

Can I both ask for support and support someone else?

Yes. When you need company, ask a peer. When you have capacity, you can offer five minutes to someone else. You can always decline or rest.

Do I need to pay to ask a peer?

No. Asking an anonymous peer, offering presence, opening and rewriting your Plan, the private Journal, each of your walks, and safety access remain free—they are the reason this app exists. Plus adds Personal Circle, private patterns, preparation, a weekly look-back, and a photo backdrop. Supporter sustains the service and adds private visual choices. Neither changes who may ask for help.

What if someone is in immediate danger?

Contact local emergency services yourself. WITHSTAND does not monitor crisis status or dispatch help; its immediate-help resources remain available without a peer session.

The night sky

Technology should helphumans find humans.

A Plan can remind you what you chose earlier. A private record can help you notice what brings you back. But in the immediate moment, another person can choose to spend the next five minutes with you now. The anonymous session stays focused on that small human act. Sharing in the community is a separate choice.
